About Project: Pick up fishing line.
( Facebook Group)
A small group of people in Sacramento County and El Dorado County passionate about the safety and the well-being of wildlife took it upon themselves to start clean-up efforts to remove as much fishing line, lures, and hooks as possible to see if it would make a difference in wildlife deaths and injuries due to the fishing gear left behind.
While working closely with local wildlife rescue workers, it proved to make a huge difference.
The amount of calls and rescues dropped dramatically. One rescue worker would get up to 300 in one year; after one year of our project, it reduced to just a handful.
We raise awareness, educate, lead groups, and assist in removing fishing gear such as fishing lines, lures, and hooks to protect wildlife.
We strive to engage and educate individuals who care about wildlife, empowering them to make the lakes and rivers a safer environment for waterfowl, birds, and wildlife.
